Chapter 1
Notes: Two chapters in two days, I feel proud T_T haha. Hope this chapter is okay! Also, whole fic so far is in Kai's POV.
"Because I want to," he stated. His voiced was deep and rich, and I couldn't help but enjoy the sound of it. We stood in silence for a few more seconds until the other blond called out,
"Oooh Rei-rei looks like someone's got the hots for you. Look it him staring like that!" My face blossomed crimson red. I had been staring, but it was just because I'd never seen anyone wearing a noseband before!
"So-sorry." I stuttered, turning back to the table I was supposed to be cleaning. The little blond made his way over to me, striking a pose next to the table.
"I would be Ruki ~ best shoplifter, pickpocket, and all around burglar under the age of eighteen. Be pleased you met me." The three other boys simultaneously groaned. Was this guy for real? I continued cleaning the table, politely ignoring him. Ruki's brow furrowed.
"I said-"
"I can't take it any longer! The world has lost its many colors to a pale, dull headache! Take me from my misery, dear friends!" A tall, multicolored blur had appeared, and was currently racing towards our little group. As it got closer, I realized it wasn't an it, but a he. He latched onto Aoi, crying out, "The normal world is a cruel, cruel place, Aoi-chan! It's terrible!"
Glancing around, I was surprised that no one in the lunchroom had even looked over at the havoc this guy was causing. From the exasperated looks Uruha, Aoi, Ruki, and Reita (probably, but that noseband was getting in the way again) were giving him, this seemed to be a common thing. I was started to get the feeling that anyone living in a home for troubled teens truely was crazy.
Ruki snickered again. "What, Miyavi, did they finally find your endless supply of pot?"
Miyavi loudly sighed, slumping into Aoi even more. "Not only did they find it, they took it from me! I haven't had a smoke in forever!"
"Then why the hell do you smell like weed?" Aoi pushed Miyavi away from him, sniffing the air. "I'd recognize that smell anywhere."
Uruha chuckled, butting into the conversation. "Aoi, he just doesn't wash his clothes. It's the only remembrance of his dearest druggie days that he has left."
"Oi ~ Who would this be?" Miyavi was suddenly in front of me. I opened my mouth to speak, but Reita beat me to it.
"He's some new volunteer who likes to ask stupid questions." I blushed, all I had done was ask about his noseband... Which meant I had questioned his style, which meant I had shown disregard to the way he looked, which reflected his personality... Oh dear. Kai, Kai, don't panic! Just because he's at a delinquent doesn't mean he's going to kick your ass!
"Owaa, he's cute. What's your name, little deer in the headlights?" Miyavi was grinning at me, and I noticed he had a lip ring. Then I remembered he was waiting for me to answer.
"Uke Yutaka... but I'd prefer Kai."
"So, Kai, you ever tried pot?"
"Okay, we're going. Now." Aoi grabbed Miyavi by the arm and started to drag him off. "Come on, we're wasting a free Saturday talking to some random kid."
"Bye, bye Kai-kun! The sun is smiling so I have to go outside!" Miyavi waved at me, letting himself be dragged away. Uruha grinned again,
"He has a point, the sun is shining! Ruki, Reita, let's go do something!"
I caught eyes with Reita for a second, blushing again. Those grey eyes didn't look angry, and I assured myself he wouldn't kick my ass for asking a stupid question. He turned his back, and the three of them followed Aoi and Miyavi out the door. Community service was going to be more trying than I thought.
By the time I got home I was completely exhausted. My stepmother had spent the last half hour trying to get me to tell her how the community service went, but all I wanted to do was collapse on my bed and sleep. My whole life was being turned upside down.
Unfortunately, as soon as I hit my bed my cell phone went off. The ring tone was a cheerful English song, singing out the words 'I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to fall, I'll be ther-'
"Hello?" I answered, snuggling closer into my bed sheets.
"Kai! Where have you been all weekend? Someone said something about a stolen car and I thought, not the Kai I know!" The peculiar voice could only belong to one person, and that person happened to be my closest friend from school.
"Teruki, Teruki, it's okay. Um... nothing happened. I've just been busy, all right?" There was no use telling him about the community service, because then I'd have to explain why I was doing it in the first place. Teruki would just panic if he found out I'd supposedly stolen a car. "But anyways, right now really isn't a good time. I'm kind of tired. I'll call you back later, okay?"
"Kai-" Click. I sighed, burying my head in one of my pillows. Tomorrow there would be more community service, and on Monday there'd be school and Teruki to face. Good luck, Kai. Might as well keep my own spirits up.

Author's Notes: I have a bit to say this time, actually.
First off all, I like the way this story is turning out ^_^ but I'm not sure if I can keep writing at this pace, so the next few chapters might take a little bit longer to get out to the public. But please, wait for them.
Next, I've decided I love a druggie!miyavi ;D i picture him looking a bit like this in this fic.
Oh, and Kai's ringtone is the theme song to Friends. I couldn't resist ^_^
Finally, thank you all very much, I got many, many comments on the last chapter. I hope I can continue writing a fic you guys enjoy!

"See! Even the cleaning boy thinks it looks weird!" Uruha threw his hands up, grinning triumphantly. After a brief silence (only interrupted by the little blond snickering into his food), Reita took a step forward, staring at me. Or was he glaring? That noseband really made it hard for me to makeout his expressions.
